My journey at Schelling Polska - where heavy machinery met software integration

May 15, 2026

Schelling CNC Machine

Before I became an IT Support Engineer supporting global clients, I spent two years installing and integrating massive industrial machines across Poland.

The World of Precision Machinery

At Schelling Polska, I worked as an Implementation Specialist. Our machines are world-class CNC panel saws — incredibly precise equipment that cuts raw boards into perfect furniture components.

Machine Installation

Installing these machines was no small task. It required careful site preparation, precise rigging, alignment, and rigorous testing. One mistake could cost days of production. I learned very quickly the importance of planning, technical documentation, and attention to detail.

From Hardware to Software Integration

After the physical installation came the most interesting part — bringing the machines into the digital world.

  • Configuring Evolution software on the machine controller
  • Integrating with HPO optimization software in the office
  • Setting up communication between the machine and ERP system
  • Implementing Xbob for rest board management
Software Integration

I developed and executed SQL queries to enable custom reporting, production tracking, and work hour monitoring. The machines sent real-time data — how many meters were cut, machine efficiency, operator performance — directly to the office systems.

Key Lessons That Shaped My IT Career

This experience taught me something fundamental:

Technology is only as good as the integration between systems.

Whether it's connecting a CNC machine to an ERP system or connecting a user's laptop to Microsoft 365 — the principles remain the same: clear communication, proper configuration, and reliable data flow.

Today, when I configure Microsoft 365 environments or automate processes with PowerShell, I still use the same mindset I developed while integrating heavy industrial equipment.

Fun Fact: Some of the machines I installed years ago are still running today with the systems I helped implement.
